Frequently Asked Questions

How do I change the head on the 3.0?

We recommend keeping the head untwisted before pulling it off or popping it on.

What is the difference between 2.0 and 3.0?

Our 3.0 comes with interchangeable heads that you can pop on and off the Boot Buddy body. There are 3 different brushes in our full 3.0 set:

Our NEON brush, with soft bristles, perfect for cleaning your sneakers

Our BLUE brush, with medium bristles, perfect for cleaning your boots

Our PINK brush, with hard bristles, perfect for cleaning your wellies, hiking boots and the outsole of your shoes. This can also be used dry to brush out suede boots

Our 2.0 does not come with the interchangeable head feature

What’s the best way for me to use my Boot Buddy 3.0?

Your BootBuddy 2.0 comes with a brush and scraper as well as a built-in water reservoir. The scraper is for getting really clogged up, difficult to dislodge mud. The brush is best used in conjunction with water which you can control by squeezing your BootBuddy once you’ve opened the valve on its neck. Then use the microfibere towel to finish off cleaning and leave your boots looking squeaky clean.

How do I use 3.0?

First, you can use the brush heads alone (ie. Not attached to the Boot Buddy body). We advise, dipping the brush head into a bowl of warm water and adding our clean solution. This will allow you to clean your shoes nicely. This works best on shoes such as: Vans, Converses, Air Force 1s, Jordans, Stan Smiths, Ultraboosts, Gym Trainers, Leather shoes and patent shoes etc.

Second, you can pop the brush head on to the Boot Buddy body, fill it with water, untwist the head and clean the mud off your shoes. This works best on muddy shoes such as: football boots, rugby boots, lacrosse boots, muddy running trainers, hiking boots and wellies etc

What can I use the scraping tool on?

The scraping tool works really well on clogged up, difficult to dislodge mud and dirt. Whether this is in the treads of your sneakers or shoes or around the studs of your boots, the BootBuddy scraping tool will shift that mud before moving your clean up job on to the brush for a perfect finish.

What shoes can I use my Boot Buddy 2.0 on?

You can use your Boot Buddy 2.0 on any muddy footwear; boots, wellies, hiking shoes etc. We know that water and suede don’t mix so please bare that in mind if you are cleaning a shoe with any suede.

How do I fill up my Boot Buddy with water?

It’s easy… The scraping tool end of your BootBuddy unscrews so that you can fill it with 300ml of water. Make sure the valve on the neck is in the ‘closed’ position if you’re not intending to use it immediately.

How do I make my Boot Buddy watertight and then open it to get water out?

The brush end of your BootBuddy has a neck that twists to open and close the valve to either release water or to make your BootBuddy watertight. The neck twists anti-clockwise to open and clockwise to close. Make sure you’re holding your BootBuddy with the brush facing up before you open it!

What should I do if I can’t open my BootBuddy?

First of all, please make sure you’re opening the right end! The end with the brush releases to let water out but doesn’t actually undo more than half a turn. The end of your BootBuddy with the scraping tool undoes fully to enable you to fill it with water. If you can’t undo it then try running under a tap before trying again. If you’re still having problems, please get in touch with our customer services team at

Can I put fluids other than water in my BootBuddy?

Absolutely. For anything other than suede we recommend using the BootBuddy Clean Solution to deep clean your boots, shoes and sneakers. However, other cleaning fluids can be used. Please make sure they’re properly diluted and make sure to wash out your BootBuddy before you use it on anything else if you’re not intending to use the cleaning solution on them.
